Equipment Received: Azaran Cloak

An ornate robe materialized into my hands. I looked at the robe and frowned. “It says it’s called an ‘Azaran Cloak.’”

“Useless!” Cassie screamed at the ceiling before accepting her own reward. A potion appeared in her hands, but she looked ready to slam it into the ground before Jen stopped her.

“It’s a goddamn Energy Potion,” Cassie said.

“Britta,” Jen said, stooping beside her and slapping her face lightly. “You need to accept your reward. Just in case it can help, we need to know what the equipment is.”

Britta stirred and her smile dropped as she opened her eyes to look at Jen. With some prodding, Jen eventually got her to focus and to accept her reward as Cassie ordered me to take out the tent and try making a fire.

I got started on my task and only looked back to see a beautiful gold and white shield fall into Britta’s lap. The shield was almost as big as she was but looked thin enough to carry around as Jen set it over Britta’s head to keep her out of the rain.

Cassie swore again. “Terrence, where is that fire?”

I got back to making the fire as the girls brought Britta out of the rain and into the tent.

“The timer is ticking, we need to get out of the dungeon room,” I reminded them, looking at the message and the portal leading out of the dungeon room.

Both glared at me as Jen kept Britta awake and Cassie continued to feed Britta something she’d mixed.

Stepping away from the tent briefly, I grabbed the snake’s body and placed it in the Inventory so we could leave.

Jen finished saying something I didn’t catch as I returned to the tent.

“If we leave the dungeon room now it will take days for us to reach the exit. I doubt she’ll even make it a day. Her Skill is the only thing keeping her alive right now,” Cassie yelled at Jen.

“We have to try,” Jen said. “The town isn’t far from the dungeon’s entrance. If we hurry—”

“Hey Great Protector Prick!” Cassie yelled, “We can’t help anyone if we’re all dead! Your rewards were bullshit. Give us something we can actually use!”

Cassie stomped out of the tent and into the clearing as she screamed at the top of her lungs. “Get out here, you pompous jerk!” Cassie waited, heard no response, but kept trying as Jen and I prepared Britta for our trip out.

“Aren’t your dungeons supposed to be fair? Fight the monster, earn a reward if you win, die if you lose. Shouldn’t the reward be worth it?”

Cassie’s cries became more desperate each time.

“Is this what you really want? For us to die? What about your beautiful creatures? Or the Azarans? Do you not care about them? If Britta dies, we’re done with this crap!” Cassie let out a chuckle as tears streamed down her face.

“You gave a shield to a dying girl? Is that meant to be a joke? What kind of reward is that?”

The rain in the dungeon room stopped.
